On December 6, military families and friends gathered for an afternoon of fun and to celebrate the holidays as the PEI MFRC hosted “Festive Family Day.” It was a wonderful day, giving military families an opportunity to meet and get to know each other. We all enjoyed the entertainment provided by Daniel Scott and the Queens County Fiddlers.
The children enjoyed face painting and colouring and the balloons that were twisted into all kinds of animals, hats, swords . . . you name it! Of course, the inflatable obstacle course was a hit (not to mention a great way to burn off the energy of the cotton candy and popcorn!).
A visit from Santa was the highlight of the afternoon. Every child got to have one-on-one time with Santa and received a little gift from the man in red.
Special thanks to …
HMCS Queen Charlotte for the venue and the security personnel
The Blue Heron Sea Cadets for giving their time, helping with set up and clean up and anything else we asked
Daniel Scott for his musical skills, juggling talents, and his magical card tricks
The Queens County Fiddlers for causing many toes to tap (and a few to step dance!)
Par-T-Perfect for being so patient and professional
Santa Claus for taking time out of his very busy schedule (Santa loves PEI’s military families!)
The PEI MFRC volunteers for, as always, being so caring and giving
And, of course, we thank all the PEI military families who attended—we hope you had a great time. We’ll see you at the next event!
Happy New Year from the PEI MFRC staff to our military members, veterans, and their families, and to our community partners.
