SUMMARY – After being closed for most of 2018, the PEI Military Family Resource Centre (PEI MFRC) is pleased to announce it’ll be re-opening its Summerside office in a new location.
For immediate release
(SUMMERSIDE, PE) January 14, 2019—After being closed for most of 2018, the PEI Military Family Resource Centre (PEI MFRC) is re-opening services in Summerside, starting Wednesday, January 16, in a new location.
The PEI MFRC will be located in the Summerside Presbyterian Church on Victoria Road. Hours of operation will be Wednesdays, 8:00am until 4:00pm.
A registered non-for-profit, the PEI MFRC believes that military families play a vital role in the success of Canada’s men and women in uniform and is committed to ensuring that military families residing in Prince Edward Island thrive and that the people of Prince Edward Island recognize and support Canada’s men and women in uniform.
Executive Director Leona Conrick is pleased to, once again, offer easier access to Summerside clients. “Our Summerside Program Director was off work for much of last year, due to health challenges, and, unfortunately, we didn’t have enough staff to cover the area. We’re happy to be able to have a presence in Summerside again, and we invite anyone with a military connection or even a curiosity about the military in PEI to come and see us.”
Conrick says that people can drop by or make a one-on-one appointment ahead of time. There are subsidized movie certificates available for military families to purchase, as well as bridge passes and/or gas cards for military families travelling off-Island for medical appointments. People can receive information about any of the services the PEI MFRC provides, as well as register for upcoming events.
“We encourage visitors,” Conrick continues. “This is a 100% accessible space, there’s free parking, and there’s always coffee. We’re also giving away a small gift to our first 50 Summerside visitors of 2019.”
Anyone interested in contacting the PEI MFRC can email (info@pei-mfrc.org), call (902-892-8999), or stop by, either at their Charlotteown office, which is located at 210 Water Street and open Monday–Friday, 9am–4pm, or their Summerside office, 130 Victoria Road, open Wednesdays, 8am–4pm.
This is great news. I am retired and live in Margate.. Look forward to visiting the MFRC.
