(CHARLOTTETOWN PE) August 4, 2015 – The Prince Edward Island Military Family Resource Centre (PEI MFRC) has a playful new mascot, but as of yet, there has been no consensus for this mascot’s name. This friendly fox is travelling with PEI MFRC staff all over the Island this summer on its Tip-To-Tip tour to raise awareness of the services and programming they offer—staff hope to soon have a proper name for him or her.
The PEI Military Family Resource Centre exists to offer services, information, and support to the family members of Prince Edward Island’s military members. This tour gives the MFRC a way to connect with Islanders who don’t live close to either its main office in Charlottetown or any of the satellite offices in Summerside, Cardigan, and Alberton, and to just connect with the Island community. And the purpose for the mascot is to raise the visibility of the PEI MFRC.
Executive Director of the PEI MFRC, Donna Earl, says, “Our mascot will hopefully help more people to become aware of our presence in Prince Edward Island. It’s hard to miss a giant red fox wearing camo! We enjoy the company of ‘Hey You,’ but our relationship won’t feel permanent until our fox has a new name.”
Names are being accepted until the end of the summer, when the mascot’s new name will be announced. Submit your name via the PEI MFRC Facebook page (facebook.com/PEIMFRC1), or simply by approaching a member of the PEI MFRC staff when you see the mascot out and about this summer.
Members of the public are advised not to feed this fox, unless there are also snacks provided to the other PEI MFRC employees.
“Trench”. As in a trench in the war.
On behalf of my grandchildren I submit “Noble” for consideration!
