Sergeant Greg Jones is pictured here with his wife, Tayte, and their daughters (4,2)
Sergeant Greg Jones is a Reservist with the Prince Edward Island Regiment. As someone with over 17 years of Military experience, he admits it wasn’t until he married his wife, Tayte Willows (a current MFRC Board of Directors Member), and they had children that he started becoming more aware of all that MFRCs offer Military families. But now that the family is starting to avail of MFRC programs and services, he encourages all Military members to consider becoming more engaged with the MFRC.
The family is young, with daughters ages 4 and 2, and so they both realize the increasing impact the MFRC can provide.
Sergeant Jones did speak about receiving a morale mail package while on deployment many years before, and experience that was “muchly appreciated” and one that set the positive association with the MFRC, a feeling that will only grow as both his Military career and his children age.
TW: It’s reassuring for us that the MFRC is there for whatever decision gets made [Military wise]…that we know in this stage, they are there to support us and if he decides to change his role, the MFRC is there, too.
Both Tayte and Greg spoke about how just knowing about all that the MFRC can provide is a huge relief. Even if they don’t need a specific resource or service right now, knowing that it is there for when they might is a comfort.
GJ: For us, it’s knowing that you are there…if we did end up needing your services.
The couple spoke about the MFRC being a “knowledge source” and a place for “guidance” about various needs the young family has. They’re eager to try out the swimming passes, as well as the camp grant program, especially as the children get older.
And, of course, there’s the ongoing positive association PEIR Members have with visits on training nights…visits that typically involve treats.
GJ: We always get excited when we see the MFRC down at PEIR…they usually bring Timbits.
TW: I’m sure Greg mentioned how much he loves those Timbits!
Sometimes, a connection begins with a simple Timbit! Thank you, Greg and Tayte, for sharing the impact the MFRC currently has on your family, as well as the recognizing the future potential of further impact.
