Corporal Travis Brown with PEIR is pictured here with his wife and three children.
Hello Travis! Can you tell us a bit about your family?
I joined the CAF in December 2017. My wife, Pway, and I have three children: Edessa and Elyssa (both 6) and Jacob (14).
What does being a military family mean to you?
Being away from home on course! (laughing)
Tell us about a few challenges about being a military family that either you’ve experienced now or you have in the past.
Not being there is the big thing—whether that’s to cut the grass or help with snow removal or help with the girls or cook meals.
Time management is another big one—trying to juggle civilian work and family time, along with training nights and weekends.
Tell us about some of the joys that come from being a military family.
MFRC events are a big one. We love coming out to as many as we can.
Mess events are also enjoyable—the camaraderie is important.
And the training is great because it’s skills that can be passed on.
Can you tell us what the MFRC means to your family.
It’s awesome! The photoshoot…the time spent in Cavendish…the Christmas Party…it’s all wonderful.
The events here include other military families and they experience all the same challenges you do. And it brings people together quite a bit.
