We’re thrilled to have Susan (Sue) Pollard helping us out for the next little while, while one of our program coordinators, Bernadine Mullin-Splude, is out on leave.
Sue is a recent graduate of the University of Prince Edward Island, having completed her degree in Child and Family Studies. She has substantial education in children and families as she completed the two-year Early Childhood Education diploma program at the College of the North Atlantic in Corner Brook, NL, prior to attending UPEI.
While attending UPEI, she gained experience working with military families completing two field placements with us over the past academic year.
Sue also has a personal connection to her position with the MFRC as she was raised in the home of an RCMP member (her father). Having lived in seven different communities—attending four schools and two post-secondary institutes—, Sue has a thorough understanding of what it means to establish herself within new diversified environments. She can most certainly relate to the military lifestyle and is eager to use her experience to her advantage while in her position.
“I’m thrilled and eager to work with the staff at the PEI MFRC,” Sue states. “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with everyone at the PEI MRFC during my field placements and, specifically, my supervisor, Bernie.”
Sue will be occupying Bernie’s position temporarily while Bernie is out on leave and has plans of leaving her mark on the organization while she is here. She is ambitious about taking the leadership on the upcoming morale packages project, helping with the Tip-to-Tip tour of the island this summer, and involving herself in any other events and opportunities that arise during her time her at PEI MFRC.
