The eighth annual Wear Red Road Races (set for April 16) need a Race Director. The organizing committee includes former members with experience in previous years’ events, but someone is needed who can focus on the race organization itself. The race director should be a runner, in order to appreciate organizational and safety issues from the perspective of runners, walkers, and wheelchair athletes. WR3 is well established, but there are myriad details to be coordinated. The race director will have the support of the rest of the committee in performance of the following duties:
- overall organization & safety considerations of 5K, 10K, and half-marathon races on Sat 16 April
- organizing & overseeing online registration (through third-party provider)
- coordinating chip timing services, bibs, etc.
- obtaining event permit from Dept of Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy (template available), and providing post-event report
- liaising with RCMP & Charlottetown Police Services
- recruiting/supervising two course marshals (one each for 5K/10K, and half-marathon)
- marking 5K, 10K, and half-marathon routes (already established)
- briefing traffic control and other safety personnel
